The Epirus is a large multi-purpose craft. It runs the gamut from basic functions such as transportation and hauling duties to surveying and colonization of outlying posts and large scale mining operations. In the Fleet its supplies are consumed and its space is used by the large civilian population like most vessels. The ship's versatility, however, has also made it useful as an auxiliary vessel in combat, an aid to mining operations, a back-up to the Athena's Light as a scanning vessel, as a potential replacement for the Hephaestus as a landing vessel for troops, and opens a new door entirely for its primary purpose of colonization.
The Epirus was recovered from Foley Field, Aquaria. It is armed with twenty 35mm and forty 25mm kinetic point defense turrets as well as four anti-ship missile launchers. The Epirus also has a considerably advanced CIC intended for the coordination of support vessels as well as shuttles and deploy ble ground units.
